Cosmetic Contact Lenses
Cosmetic contact lenses are available to wear all year around if you like. These lenses blend in perfectly for any occasion, whether it is to spruce up an outfit for a party, make a costume stand out, or just to get noticed by someone.
They come in a large variety of colors and designs and contain no vision correction. However, in the United States and Canada, you can’t by them without a prescription. Even if they contain no vision correction, it is important to make sure they fit properly. This can only be done by getting a prescription from your optometrist. The good thing about this is that your prescription is good for at least a year.
Cosmetic lenses can enhance your eye color, or just add a little tint to your natural color. You may choose to wear them everyday up to a month or you may choose to invest in one day lenses. Whichever you decide to go with, it is important to only deal with reputable companies that produce good quality lenses. This will further assist in keeping your eyes healthy while you try different designs or colors.
It is also important to keep your lenses in good condition by keeping them clean and storing them properly. Failure to do this can cause the quality of the lenses to deteriorate quickly. As this happens and you continue to wear them, you can cause serious damage to your eyes. Lenses that are made up of poor quality or not maintained can cause red eyes, blurred vision, itching, burning, swelling around the eyes, dry eyes, and even loss of vision. All of these things can lead to more serious eye problems if you don’t seek eye care from your optometrist immediately.
Cleaning and storing your cosmetic contact lenses properly takes about five minutes or less each day, unless you choose lenses that are thrown away after each use. Talk to your optometrist about the proper way to take care of your lenses before you invest in them.
